This was surprisingly difficult to answer, so I apologize for the delay.
I like blogs that make me feel and make me think. I like my dash to feel like a museum: interesting things to see and consider. It might be a blog full of nature photographs, or a blog that posts literature quotes, or a blog that posts photos interesting architecture that makes me want to travel the world, or a creative writing blog, or a blog that introduces me to new music, or a blog that posts about social justice causes. Tumblr is my escape when I want more: more beauty, more reading, more thinking, more art, more creativity, more music. So I look for places that give me access to more.
I’ll admit (with embarrassment) that I can be very picky about following and I frequently follow only to unfollow a week later when I start seeing patterns of things I don’t like. I don’t like to see lots of posts about follower counts, and I don’t like to see drama and fighting. I won’t follow anyone spouting narrow-minded, intolerant world views. I don’t like stolen or uncredited images. I don’t mind personal posts, and in fact I really enjoy them, but I have a low tolerance for reading melodramatic teenage drama, especially when it’s riddled with “omg.”
